BP 97 Now this is a really cool relic! I always like dug relics that show how soldiers passed their time, carving bullets or in this case punching holes in a belt plate with what looks like a square nail. Billy dug this interesting piece at Port Hudson years ago and it just turned up stored away in an old medicine bottle. Get the plate and we’ll throw in the bottle for free!

BP 94 Volunteer Militia of Maine Belt Plate

BP 96 One of a kind piece dug in the North Zouave Field at Port Hudson where New York Zouave troops camped. It is a fancily engraved plate that reads : “Captain Hose Company”. It is heavy sheet brass with puppy paw type connectors and heavy brass tongue. Billy wrote on the back where he found it and put a price on it.

A classic CS nondescript buckle dug at Port Hudson
by Billy Spedale in the late 1960’s. This buckle is pictured
in Lon Keim’s book, “ Confederate General Service
Accoutrement Plates” on page 336 figure 561. It measure
25 x 47 mm. The brass tongue is missing and the bar shows a
small crack.

Billy says he found this lead filled sheet brass plate
on top of the ground while hunting in the woods at Port Hudson
in 1970. A good portion of the top (Bottom?) is missing and
it has a rust bleed thru. The back shows evidence of a three
pronged wire attachment hook.
